2024 - PlatformPatience - Public Space Installation

Designed for the ever-moving rhythm of train stations, PlatformPatience is a reimagined sit-stand bench that offers commuters and travelers a seamless waiting experience. Addressing the discomforts of traditional benches—awkward seating positions, the hassle of removing heavy backpacks, cold surfaces, and inefficient use of space—this installation provides an ergonomic and intuitive alternative.
Built at the perfect height for leaning rather than sitting, the structure consists of a sturdy steel beam designed to support both the user and their backpack. An additional steel support beam relieves pressure from the shoulders, allowing travelers to rest without removing their backpacks. The experience is effortless: arrive, lean, wait, and leave—without unnecessary detangling or discomfort.
Further enhancing usability, recycled car seatbelt straps are integrated into the design, offering additional support for smaller backpacks or bags. Their flexible yet secure structure allows for easy rummaging through a bag, quick access to belongings, or simply placing a bag down without it slipping or tipping over. The result is an efficient, space-conscious, and hygienic waiting solution that seamlessly integrates into the dynamic flow of train stations—a thoughtful response to the realities of modern commuting.
